"Enlightenment is like the moon reflected on the water. The moon does not get wet, nor is the water broken. Although its light is wide and great, the moon is reflected even in a puddle an inch wide. The whole moon and the entire sky are reflected in dewdrops on the grass, or even in one drop of water... Each reflection, however long or short its duration, manifests the vastness of the dewdrop, and realizes the limitlessness of the moonlight in the sky". - Dogen Zenji - c.1200 - 1253.
Water is the most powerful of the 4 elements on Earth; it may douse out the fire, it may wear thin the rock and it feeds the skies. In motion water is the supreme master and yet in stillness for but a single second; every drop of water may reflect the entirety around it. The trader must learn to imbibe the stillness of the water and reflect the universe around him with similar peaceful poise for in that stillness lies the power to reflect everything and be everything all at once. Though the light of the moon is vast and pervading, from each and every drop of water, it's light may be reflected from the emptiness within each drop of water in a union of song and dance with the rhythm of the universe. The trader with stillness of mind reflects light and shadow and all forces of nature as time rolls by. Inner calm with stillness of the mind allows the trader to match move with move and pause with pause as the market rages and boils in every direction. As a tree sways with the wind but does not break the true trader can only reflect the direction of the market when his mind achieves such stillness.
The true trader is merely a reflection of the market as the silent lake reflects the beams of moonlight. Little force that the trader is; in a single moment in silence the trader can reflect and become everything that is greater around him.
